Confirmation

2010-11 Confirmation Calendar

This Sacrament deepens and strengthens our baptismal commitment. St. Pius X sponsors a program of study, prayer and service to help the youth of the parish prepare for this strengthening sacrament. Young adults who have completed the seventh grade religion curriculum are welcome to participate in this program. Students must be currently enrolled in a certified catechetical program within the Diocese of Covington. A parent education meeting is in the fall for parents of interested candidates for the sacrament. The young adults make a commitment to study, persevere, pray and perform community service projects in order to be accepted into the Confirmation sessions.  Sessions provide:

  • an avenue to check on doctrinal knowledge (Class work in School or PSR)
  • a means of all students involved to become familiar with each other and the workings of their parish
  • a chance to discern whether the students are ready to make this commitment

Confirmation sessions include materials taught through religion classes, Sunday sessions and the Confirmation Retreat.  The Bishop normally comes to St. Pius X Parish in the winter months to confirm (there will be a new calendar published for next year in July).

The Sacrament of Confirmation is offered for the adults of the parish once a year as well. This Sacrament is celebrated at the Cathedral by the Bishop on Pentecost Sunday. Information on sessions to prepare for Confirmation for adults eighteen and older may be obtained by calling the Office of Religious Education at 341-4900, ext 113.
