First Lieutenant
Quartermaster, Matt Ryan, visits St. Pius students
Recently, Matt Ryan, a First Lieutenant
Quartermaster
in the Army stationed in
Iraq, visited with
fifth and
sixth graders at St. Pius X School in Edgewood.
Ryan discussed his experiences and thanked the students for
“adopting” him and his brother Sean,
a First Lieutenant
Army ranger
stationed in
Afghanistan this year. Throughout the school year, students
have sent cards and
care packages
to the Ryans, who were deployed on their respective missions in August. In
addition to the overall importance of supporting our troops, the students
have two other special reasons for thinking of Matt and Sean: Both are
graduates of St. Pius and they have two younger brothers still at the
school. The effort was coordinated by Tricia Hart, St. Pius' 5th grade
Language Arts teacher.
